Position Description

The Community Office Manager (COM) is an essential member of the residence hall community who oversees and directly supervises the front desk staff with the support of the and Managers of Front Desk and Service Operations (MFSO). 

The COM is generally responsible for assisting their CA team, residents, and Student Housing staff such that the front desk operations run smoothly.

Requirements  

  • Must have a 2.5 cumulative GPA at the time of application and maintain a 2.5 cumulative and semester GPA for the duration of their employment. 
  • Must meet a minimum of half-time enrollment by the semester's Census date to be eligible for employment.
  • Must be and remain in good standing with the Department and University, including no significant or recent student conduct history.
  • COMs must have completed at least one semester as a CA​

  • COMs must attend training dates as listed in contract.
  • COMs must hold, find coverage and attend mandatory monthly staff meetings. The dates will be determined by the COM but will occur sometime during the first week of the month.
  • COMs must attend bi-monthly MC meetings with fellow COMs and MFSOs.
  • COMs must schedule and attend meetings with the CAs (e.g. accountability, evaluation, etc.)
  • COMs must attend weekly one on one meetings with their supervisor as well as any other scheduled meetings with the CA staff (e.g. accountability, evaluation, etc.).
  • Prepare the desk for the opening and closing of the residence hall in August, December, January and May
  • COMs must appropriately schedule CA’s based on availability that is provided.
  • Must solicit availability from CA’s for all major holidays and breaks.
  • Must assist in the facilitation of coverage for open shifts within building slack and COM slack channel.

Compensation  & Time Commitment

  • COMs are expected to work, on average 25 hours per week to complete all responsibilities and duties.
  •  5 of the 25 hours must be scheduled as a front desk shift.
  • When school is not in session, COMs may work up to 35 hours per week.
  • COMs may not work more than 7.5 hours per day and more than 6 days in a row. These hour restrictions include any other on-campus jobs a COMs may have.
  • COMs are expected to maintain their timesheets and maintain accurate time reporting practices.
  • COMs are also expected to manage and take their breaks in accordance to student employment expectations.
COMs will receive $22 per hour for a maximum of 25 hours per week while classes are in session.​

Employment 

  • COMs may NOT hold part-time jobs which conflict in any way with Community Office Manager training, Community Assistant training, and First Year and Continuing students move in. 
  • COMs cannot serve as a Resident Advisor, ASUSF Senate Executives, or top executive for any funded account organization (NO EXCEPTIONS WILL BE MADE).
  • COMs cannot be enrolled in specific Summer Sessions that lead into training during the last week of July and first week of August.
